FELICIANO AND GARGANO HONORED BY IMMIGRANTS

jose_small_purpleborderOn October 21st, singer Jose Feliciano, Chairman Charles Gargano (Empire State Development Corporation), Jay Ireland, President of NBC TV Stations and Ibra Morales, President of Telemundo TV Stations will be honored with awards given by the International Immigrants Foundation, a non-profit institution associated with the UN (NGO (ECOSOC – DPI).
Feliciano is being invested as one of the Foundation’s official delegates and the Honorary Ambassador for Cultural Understanding before the United Nations.
Wednesday, July 30th  the Foundation shared the good news with the press hosting a dinner  at Sylvia’s.  Edward Juarez, its president, said that the “International Immigrants Foundation is happy to officially announce to the press the awardees’ acceptance of the Foundation’s honor of achievement.”
Founded in 1973, in its 30th Anniversary, the International Immigrants Foundation’s work dedicated to the immigrant community reaches people from all walks of life. The International Immigrants Foundation organizes multicultural programs that provide an environment of cultural expression and raise broader public awareness of the various cultures that comprises the United States.
The Foundation is now coordinating its 18th International Cultures Parade, to take place Sunday, September 14. The first Parade took place in 1986, in commemoration of the Centennial of the Statue of Liberty.  For the first time in the history of the United States the leaders from the many  different  cultural parades and main umbrella organizations from New York City gathered to organize one common event. Over 100 ethnic groups from the metropolitan area celebrated together, leaving aside their political and religious beliefs.  This year’s parade celebrates “Cultural Understanding for World Peace” and will have as its leader Ambassador Jose Feliciano.
